Apollonas Village & Beach

Once a remote fishing village and artist colony, Apollonas has evolved into a nice, but still quite little village on the Northern shores of Naxos.

Although first it seems, there is not a lot to do, you could easily spend some days in Apollonas. The little fishing village has everything you need. A nice, sandy beach protected by an outer harbor wall as well as a diverse enough variety of local restaurants and a mini market just a stone throw away. And of course, there is internet, too, so what could you wish for more?

It's a coastal haven on the island of Naxos that's more than just a pretty face. This quaint village is nestled against the backdrop of the Aegean Sea, and it's named after the Greek god Apollo – the deity of music, arts, and a dash of sun-soaked charisma.

Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty. Apollonas is known for many things, but one standout feature is the colossal unfinished statue, commonly referred to as the Kouros of Apollonas. This hulking marvel dates back to the 6th century BC, and it's believed to represent either Dionysus or Apollo. Standing there in all its massive glory, it's like a silent guardian of the village's ancient secrets.

As you wander through Apollonas, you'll discover traditional Greek tavernas lining the waterfront, serving up fresh catch-of-the-day delights. Imagine savoring some local delicacies while the gentle sea breeze dances around you – a culinary and sensory delight, if you ask me.

But Apollonas isn't just about history and seafood; it's also a perfect spot to soak up the sun and enjoy the serene beaches. The village effortlessly blends ancient charm with modern relaxation, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful mix of history and coastal vibes. So, pack your curiosity and swimsuit – Apollonas awaits your exploration!

Most of the visitors will be brought and taken again by buses from one of the many island tours and spend some hours there. Enough time to go for lunch and take a dip in the sea. There are also dressing rooms, toilets and showers, so there is no excuse. The water is really nice ...

Most of the tour companies offer two types of tours, one of which includes Apollnoas as final stop for lunch or dinner and for swimming. I would recommend you to choose this tour. You can find out more here.
