Lover of all Greek and Greeks, emperor Hadrian revamped Athens as it should have been in his eyes from the very beginning. A philosopher to his bones, he gifted a huge library to the city in the hope that it would stimulate further intellectual feats.

Though born in Roman Spain, emperor Hadrian was a huge fan of all Greek and notably Athens. He was the first emperor who grew himself a greek (philosopher's) beard.
