Gay Restaurants in Vienna

Culinary Vienna is a paradise for gourmets. The cuisines of the former crown lands of the k.u.k. Monarchy have shaped Austrian and especially Viennese cuisine. But of course there is more than Wiener Schnitzel and and Sacherwürstel to be found on the city's menus ...

Augenblick

The moment is run by the former owners of the Cheri in the 5th district. The crew is the same, only now there are also great things to eat.

Mon - Sun, 6 pm - 4 am

1070 Wien, Schottenfeldgasse

Auszeitstüberl

Make yourself comfortable and enjoy traditional Viennese cuisine, freshly bought from farmers. The cosy restaurant also serves excellent wines from Austrian wineyards.

Ignaz Jahn

In the second district, right next to Augarten, a new café and restaurant opened in early 2018 which is run by a nice gay couple. The cuisine is exclusively regional and seasonal, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Around noon, there are special lunch menus.

1020 Wien, Obere Augartenstraße 46

Isaan

Isaan is the best original Thai restaurant of Vienna. It’s gay owned and operated and offers authentic food from Thailand and in particular of the north-eastern province of Isaan, hence the name. You can watch the cooks preparing your meal and if you pass by on the street, you can already smell the delicious food. It’s a self service restaurant and you order at the counter. The interior isn’t very stylish, but it’s very clean and always full. In summer, you can also eat outside of the restaurant. Our conclusion: If you want to eat authentic Thai food you definitively have to go there!

Mon to Fri, 11 am - 10 pm
Sat, 5 pm - 10 pm
Sun, closed

1060 Wien, Gumpendorfer Straße 91

Motto

Since the late 80ies, Motto is an institution in Vienna’s nightlife. It is diveded into a bar and a restaurant area. In the summer, there is a beautiful garden to dine outside. From time to time, internatinal celebreties drop by from time to time. In his early days, when he Falco was still alive, it was one of his favourite places. And what Grace Jones did at Motto when she droped by before or after Life Ball - you really don’t want to know. But you should definetively try the choco-chilli steak and the christmas punch in winter.

Mon - Thu & Sun, 6 pm - 2 am
Fri - Sat, 6 pm - 4 am

1050 Wien, Schönbrunner Straße 30

Sixta

Excellent Viennese and international cuisine in a very special atmosphere. Meals are served daily until 11 pm. Separeted areas for smokers and non-smokers. Gay owned and operated.

1050 Wien, Schönbrunner Straße 21

Stiftskeller St. Peter

A stay in Vienna without visiting a traditional Austrian Heurigen (wine tavern) is really a veritable sin and would leave a big gap in your Viennese holiday adventure. St. Peter Weinstube is a gay operated Heurigen with a lot of queer regualrs. Please check their website, as the tavern only opens at specific dates around the month.

1170 Wien, Rupertusplatz 5
